The Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church Tutoring Program connects over 40 elementary school children from North Philadelphia with an equal number of high school students from the western suburbs. Children remain at BMPC until 8 p.m., and without a meal from the program, some may not have dinner that evening. For over 55 years, this program has been a popular community service opportunity for local teens and adults. Held on Tuesday nights at BMPC, the program pairs each child with a high school tutor who provides weekly, one-on-one assistance in reading and writing. Beyond academic support, the program fosters self-confidence, mutual understanding, and friendships between the children and their tutors.
