#17 American Friends of the Episcopal Dioceses of Jerusalem - Fuel to Run Hospital Generators
Palestinian Christians are part of the unbroken Christian presence in the land of Jesus, tracing back to the first church. The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem is a vital part of this community, sustaining more than two dozen humanitarian institutions, including Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City. These Palestinian Anglicans bear witness to Jesus today in a region of conflict, brokenness, and distrust. Travel restrictions, the violence of war, and a crippling blockade pose daily challenges for Palestinian refugees in Gaza. For thousands of families, Ahli Arab Hospital offers the only healthcare option. The hospital spends an average of $1,800 a day on diesel fuel to run its generators for up to 20 hours a day. A steady fuel supply is essential for providing reliable power, allowing the hospital to offer critical services such as a free community clinic, physical and occupational therapy, treatment for burn patients, and psycho-social support for children and their caregivers who have suffered trauma from war and the deprivations of the blockade.
