Founded in 1985 by the Presbytery of Philadelphia, Chester Eastside has provided educational programs for students in Chester for nearly 40 years. Its mission is to offer academically based assistance at no charge, aiming to help students close the educational gap due to a chronic lack of resources amid a marginalized community. Kids First is the product of a collaboration between three well-established youth-serving organizations: Chester Eastside, Girls First, and Chester ExChange. Students in Chester have a safe and supportive place to come each day after school, where they receive education and enrichment and lessons that will influence the rest of their lives. Kids First operates every weekday after school from 3 p.m.- 6 p.m., serving boys and girls in grades 1-4.
